Germany Faces Ongoing Uncertainty in Reimbursement Policies for Advanced Wound Care Products
Germany is currently navigating significant uncertainty surrounding the reimbursement of advanced wound care products, creating challenges for healthcare professionals and patients. Initially, antimicrobial wound dressings containing silver and PHMB, as well as hydrogels, were slated to be excluded from statutory health insurance (GKV) reimbursement as of December 2, 2024. However, a proposal to extend the reimbursement period until March 2, 2025, has been recommended by Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach.
