So, what is going on?... It has been a long time in the making, but the long awaited Medical Device Regulation (MDR) is certainly going to pack a punch...
During our recent survey of 20 Wound Care Specialists based in Germany and the UK, we asked them Whether they had local guidelines in their clinics for the use Innovative Wound Care Products (IWCP).
The 20 Wound Care Specialists that we recently surveyed in Germany & the UK had used &/or evaluated the following Innovative Wound Care Products (IWCP) in the previous 12 months.
The majority of the 20 recently surveyed Wound Care Specialists in the UK and Germany from both Primary & Secondary Care Settings said that Innovative Wound Care Products should be used more frequently.
It is estimated that in Italy approximately 2 million patients a year are treated for problems relating to skin lesions (ulcers and surgical wounds) and this figure is probably conservative as there is no national wound register.
One of the greatest barriers to adoption of innovative wound care therapies is clinicians’ inability to follow the progress of a treated wound once the patient has left their organisation’s care.
